This blog post is mainly for program/site owners who use CCBill. I have contacted a few and was surprised how many didn’t even have a clue about CCBill’s default cookie settings, or how to change them. The 3 day cookie setting is unacceptable, we work too hard and deserve better. I promote some mainstream programs, as well and some of them have LIFETIME cookies. So, why should we settle for just 3 days?

For those of you, who don’t understand the importance of cookies, I’ll keep this short and sweet. Say you promote bighunkymeat.com on your blog or site, a surfer visits, has never heard of the site before, like the promo you have done, clicks to visit the site, but can’t join the site right then, for whatever reason(low credit/debit card balance etc). 4 days later, he gets paid and goes to join the site – with a 3 day cookie setting, you are screwed, you don’t get credited/paid for that sale. That’s a brief explanation. With tube sites, cookie blockers and all the rest of the stuff we have these days, you gotta work harder to get that sale. Encourage sites you promote to do the right thing! Some programs even have the cookies set to 1 day – ridiculous!!! If we all get together, then maybe site owners will realize they should be doing the decent thing – we all have bills to pay.  Here is a (black)list of sites with less than desirable cookie settings: http://www.signbucksdaily.com/marketing/ccbill-cookies/

Contact the site/program owners, forward them the list, tell them we are all watching the list and they should please do the right thing and change their settings. Some, will say, they have no idea what you are talking about, or have no clue, how to change the settings, so I made a quick video, which you can access after the jump, coz it’s much larger than I would normally have. Updates & CCBill

August 16, 2010

Sorry we haven’t been updating this end of things. Will get better from end of August on, there are so many changes in the industry to discuss.

I will also be deleting some programs from t he list, because they have gone bust, vanished, are thieves, or all or some of the above. That will be done later this week.

For those of us, who promote CCBill affiliate programs, please check with the sites you promote, to make sure they are not using CCBill’s default 3 day cookie setting. If they are, you might want to contact the program and encourage them to change this setting to 30 days minimum. Please ask them to also check the IP/Browser settings and change that from the default 1hr, to the 24hr max.

We all work very hard to make those sales and programs need to take the time, to understand the impact these settings, have on affiliates.

This is just a quick update/post – more on this later and a quick video showing programs how to change the setting to follow.

The Language Of Gay Porn

April 5, 2010

One of the areas often neglected, when it comes to marketing gay porn, through blogs, is the language. So, you’ve sold insurance, weight loss programs and penis enlargement exercises, but you are now ready to profit from gay porn blogs. There’s nothing to it, right? After all, you’ve been into internet marketing for years.

True, you probably have a major advantage, over a total newbie. You can set up wordpress, with your eyes closed, you are familiar with XHTML and maybe even CSS, you understand the importance of submitting to blog directories, building backlinks etc. But, do you understand the language of gay porn and can you write blog posts, that don’t make you sound like a homophobic heterosexual, just trying to make a buck off these wealthy gays?

Of course, you don’t have to, many gay adult affiliate programs, come with text included, with the promo content, so it’s as easy as copying and pasting. If, you are fine being one of the crowd, knock yourself out! For me, what makes a gay porn blog stand out, or any blog, for that matter, is the personality and style of the blogger. Develop your own, don’t copy others and you better not copy my words, ‘coz I will hunt you down and it won’t be pretty!

If you are not familiar with the language of gay porn and gay men, visit online gay forums(I’m not helping you here, google it, you should learn to use google for research, it will serve you well as a successful porn blogger), check out other gay porn blogs(but again, don’t copy), watch some gay porn(if you are a straight man, get over it, you have a penis anyway, so big deal) and set up a Twitter account (of course, you’ll follow me) -there are tons of gay men and gay porn stars on Twitter. If you choose black gay porn, as your niche, pay even closer attention, especially, if your target audience, is largely African-American/black. Example – “dick” would be preferred, over “cock”. If you are an African-American, or black male, the “C word” might not be in your daily vocabulary(unless you are down with the swirl), but it is an extremely important keyword, when promoting mainstream gay porn.

Find out what twinks, bears, daddies, felching, snowballing, homothugs, barebacking, cock-docking and other such words mean. Again, make google your friend and visit other gay porn blogs. You’ll soon get a hang of  gay(porn) slang and in no time, you’ll be a professional gay porn blogger.

Good Luck, Enjoy The Ride and Follow Me On Twitter!

As I mentioned, in the previous post, there are free adult blog hosts out there and they do serve their purpose. However, if you intend on seeing this as a business and not a hobby, you will eventually need to register your own domain and pay for hosting. Luckily, unlike years ago, domain registration and hosting are very affordable. As I often say to people, if you can afford to go out and have 6 beers, or cocktails a month, you can afford to pay for hosting. In this blog post, I’ll attempt to explain why I feel it is important, but ultimately, it is your decision, you have to decide what works best for you.

Registering your own domain and  paying for hosting, gives you much more freedom and room to grow. No to mention, the obvious advantages, when it comes to Search Engine Optimization aka SEO. You can choose a domain with keywords, relating to your chosen gay porn niche. Free adult hosts, often limit the  storage size allowed and some don’t allow you to upload videos to their servers. If you want to use a free adult blog host, to practice and develop your skills, to send backlinks and traffic to your hosted wordpress blog, or simply to test the waters, I’m all for that.  As  far as free adult blog hosts go, I recommend Thumblogger – where I set up my 1st ever gay porn blog, which is till running. More on the virtues of free hosts later.

Some adult affiliate programs do not allow webmasters on free hosts. This, more than likely, stems from years of free adult hosts placing popups on sites and other such practices. Plus, you simply seem more serious and professional, when you own your own domain. Can anyone say branding? Also remember that if you start off with a free host, then decide it’s time to upgrade, you have the hassle of moving your blog and possibly losing some visitors and subscribers.

So, if you are ready to start being a serious adult webmaster, register your domain at GoDaddy, then change the DNS servers(also known as nameservers) to the ones given by your web host. I already mentioned in the previous post, why this is my preferred registrar, but feel free to shop elsewhere. I will be adding a video, to this post, showing you how to change DNS settings, once you have registered your domain. GoDaddy tries to sell you additional services, like hosting and email, when you register a domain. I don’t use them for hosting porn blogs, gay or otherwise, the only extra service you might need, is the Domain Privacy, which prevents others from seeing the personal information, of the owner of a domain. If you don’t mind spam and the whole world knowing, that you own bigdickpapis.com, then you don’t need this.

Now, on to affordable web hosting. Today, you can get reliable, fast, web hosting with unlimited bandwith, unlimited domains and unlimited disk space(storage) for $7.95 a month at HostGator. For $12.95/month, they will also throw in a free dedicated IP and a free toll-free phone number. Why use HostGator? You don’t have to, there are other hosts out there, but it works for me. The control panel is extremely user-friendly and you can host unlimited blogs. In terms of Wordpress blogs, the main benefit, especially for newbies, is the ability to install your blog, with just one click. It literally takes 5 minutes. Again, I will be adding a video, to show you how easy it is.

I also recommend these 2 services, because, if you have any questions about registration, DNS settings, or Wordpress installs, I’ll know exactly what you are talking about. We will be on the same page, so to speak.

To sum things up, sooner or later, you will need a domain and paid hosting. The advantages are far greater, than the minimal cost (if you can’t make back $13/month, internet marketing is not for you) and the only webmasters who truly succeed, are those, who realize it is a business, not a hobby. How many profitable home businesses, can you start with less than a $50 investment?

It’s no secret that sex sells and with the buying power of gays and lesbians, in the US, estimated at $712 billion, gay porn definitely sells. The porn industry generates up to $12 billion worldwide, annually, and some estimate that gay porn accounts for about half of that. It is hardly surprising, that internet marketers, looking to boost their income, in a fledgling economy, are turning to the lucrative business of gay porn. At a time, when most people are cutting back, gay people are cutting back less, according to Bob Witeck, CEO and co-founder of Witeck-Combs Communications in Washington, D.C., which specializes in gay strategic services.

So, what is the best way, to go about tapping into the gay buying power, which is set to exceed $835 billion by 2011? I say, through the power of gay porn blogs. The explosion of blogs and blogging, have made it somewhat easier, for newbies to explore the profitable gay porn niche. Like any other internet marketing niche, you get out, what you put in.

I have been “selling” gay porn for 10 years and been a gay porn blogger for the last 4.5, going on 5 years. There are tons of gay affiliate programs out there and it can feel like maze, trying to navigate your way, through them all. Here are some tips to get you started:

1. Decide whether you really feel comfortable marketing gay porn. It is not for everyone – there is nothing worse, than your prejudice shining through.

2. Pick a niche within gay porn – eg muscle men, black gay porn, bareback porn, twinks(guys 18-25), or bears/hairy men. It will be easier to compete for keywords.

3. Once you have picked your niche, spend sometime getting to grips with the language of that niche/gay porn in general. You can learn a lot, by visiting other blogs and gay forums. Corporate lingo won’t cut it here, time to develop your straight eye for the gay guy. Don’t be tempted to copy, develop your own style, that’s what will make your blog unique.

4. Register a domain, my #1 choice, would be GoDaddy – their domains are affordable, it is very easy to manage all your domains, if  like me, you have quite a few (DNS pointing and redirecting is a snap),  and there is 24/7 customer service. However, I wouldn’t use their hosting service, for porn blogs – more about that later, just use them as your domain registrar. choose an affordable, Wordpress friendly web host, install your blog and any necessary plugins. Yes, there are free adult blog hosts out there, nothing stops you from starting out with one of them(while you develop your skills). However, any serious blogger will, eventually, need wordpress. Choose a simple user-friendly Wordpress theme – there are free Wordpress themes and there are premium Wordpress themes, which generally cost anywhere from $40 – $90 dollars. You might also opt for a custom theme, like the one on this blog, which I designed myself. More detailed info about Wordpress will be given in another post.

5. Sign up with tried and trusted gay adult affiliate programs. After all that hard work and blogging, you want to make sure you get paid. Established bloggers often know the ones to avoid.

6. Develop relationships with, at least, a couple of seasoned gay porn bloggers. A few of us are actually helpful – and nice people!

7. Start blogging and wait for the checks to come in the mail!

Most gay men have more disposable income, than their straight counterparts. It’s now up to you, to tap into the profitable niche of gay porn. Happy blogging!
