Matt Cole burst onto the gay porn scene at the beginning of last year and has appeared in just about every major(big studio) gay video since then. I thought we’d start with a guy whose personality is as hot as the fuck scenes many gay fans have grown to love – Matt Cole.
About Gay Porn Blog(AGP): First of all, I want to thank you for agreeing to do this interview. This is the first of a few interviews I have lined up with gay porn stars and who better to kick it off than Matt Cole(MC). So, welcome and congrats on winning the 2007 GayVN Best Newcomer award!
MC: Thank you, its a pleasure to be your first interview
AGP: You have also been nominated for 5 Grabby Awards, including Best Performer, Best Bottom and Best Versatile Performer. How does it feel receiving all this attention from the (gay porn)industry and fans in just a little over 1 year?
MC: The response from fans and the industry has been incredible. When I made the decision to go into this industry just over a year ago I had no idea that I would receive the positive response that I have received. My fan base has grown to include people from all over the world which is just incredible to me. Had you told me 2 years ago that I would be working with industry legends like Chi Chi LaRue and studios like Falcon I would never have believed you. Honestly I love the attention….who wouldn’t.
AGP: How has your life changed since 2006? You’ve done like 21 or 22 videos in such a short time, are you much more comfortable financially and has it gone to your head at all?
MC: HAHA, well things are pretty financially stable for me right now, but I do reinvest a lot of my money back into things like my website. I’m also trying to launch my own studio right now called MCX Studios which is proving to be quite a financial endeavor. I look at it as you have to spend money to make money. Porn stars have a very short shelf life. I think its important to think down the road and utilize other talents to become successful in other avenues of the industry. As for remaining level headed, I have a very strong network of close friends here in Chicago who keep me very grounded and down to earth. Its one of the primary reasons I have chosen to remain living in the midwest.
AGP: I really loved your performances in the recent Raging Stallion video: Lords of the Jungle. You definitely showed your versatility in the scene with Collin O’Neal and Jay Black and the other threesome with Jake Deckard and Jason Crew was scorching! Who are your favorite 3 gay porn stars to work with and why?
MC: Oh gosh, thats like asking a mother who her favorite child is. Honestly I have had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest names in gay porn today. Ive worked with all types from all different walks of life. Ive met the most gorgeous men from all over the world. I am generally attracted to muscular men with dark features, but a great attitude goes a long way with me. Ive walked on set and met some guys who I had fantasized about for years and their attitude made them completely unattractive in the blink of an eye. I will say that some of my most memorable partners have been Jason Kingsley, C.J Knight, and Dean Monroe
AGP: Gay or straight, Who would you love to fuck and/or be fucked by off screen and why?
MC: I have to admit…..i have a huge weakness for Guidos. Any Italian boy with dark spikey hair, a heavy jersey accent and a big gold chain can bend me over and make me his bitch any day!
AGP: As we all know, bareback porn has become increasingly popular in recent years. Do you watch bareback porn and would you ever consider performing in a bareback video?
MC: I admit that I am turned on by bareback movies and I do watch them. I don’t judge people and their decisions in life. If someone choses to do bareback porn and they are aware of the consequences that is their choice. I do however choose to only participate in safe sex films. As a popular star in the industry I feel that I do influence people and my choice to only participate in safe sex films is the least that I can do for my fans.
AGP: I tried to dig up some dirt on you, but most people seem to think Matt Cole is a really nice guy. How has being a gay porn star affected your love life and are you currently dating, single, involved, what?
MC: haha, dirt? I actually pride myself on being the “nice guy” in porn today. I feel that I have won many people over in this industry by constantly having a good attitude and not stirring up problems. I show up on time to events, I treat my fans with respect, and I follow direction well on the set. A great body and good looks will only take you so far in life. You have to treat people the way you want to be treated. I have found that by being easy going and cordial has worked in my favor for my career. I have established many wonderful contacts and networking is a big part of my success. Most successful porn stars these days are exclusives with studios. Being an independent actor and living outside of the heart of the industry often works to my disadvantage. I feel like I have to work that much harder for people not to forget about me. One of the biggest compliments I get from my fans is when they tell me how approachable they find me and how willing I am to communicate with them and treat them with respect.
As for dating…..I do have an incredible boyfriend who I love to death. I like to keep our romantic life personal, but I assure you this porn star is more than satisfied at home in his own bedroom!

AGP: Let’s move away from porn for a few minutes. I understand you used to have a cocaine addiction and you’ve been clean for 6 years, since you moved to Chicago from Dallas. What do you think about how crystal meth is affecting the gay community(especially in the larger cities) and do you have any advice on getting and staying clean?
MC: Yes, i have a very addictive personality. I have learned to funnel my addictions to other areas of my life such as working out. Luckily, crystal meth did not have a big presence in the gay community when I was battling addiction otherwise I guarantee you that I would have been a victim of the drug. It took me hitting rock bottom to reflect upon my life and decided to want to change things for myself. After I had decided that I wanted to be clean I had to remove myself from many of the triggers in my life. Unfortunately that included removing people and places from my life that were a negative influence. It was lonely at first, but soon you start to develop real friendships and healthy relationships that make you reflect on your past mistakes. Going back to drugs has never been an issue with me. I look around at all the things I have going for me now and that is all the will power I need.
AGP: On a lighter note, whose music is doing it for you right now?
MC: I’m on a Peter Rauhofer fix right now…..He was spinning in Chicago a few weeks ago and now I cant get enough of him on my iPod
AGP: What are your future plans and where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
MC: Oh gosh, 10 years is a long time….10 years ago from today I was just coming out of the closet and look at me now. Thats the beauty of life. Its a journey where no one knows where the will go.
AGP: Where can your fans see you over the next few months – any upcoming appearances?
MC: I’ll be doing some stuff at IML here in Chicago over memorial day weekend. I am also trying to get booked on a couple of cruises and other fun events like that. Ill be in Orlando the first week in June for Gay Days with my friends…..if you see me say hi!
AGP: We connected on MySpace and you seemed like a cool, regular guy without an over-inflated ego like some other gay porn stars(no names mentioned yet, but you know who you are), so I decided make your interview the first on this blog. I know you spend a lot of time doing self-promotion, so here’s your chance to plug your website as shamelessly as you want. What can your fans expect from your site( MattColeXXX ) and are there any features you will be adding etc?
MC: I’m actually very proud of my website. When i decided to start my own site I knew exactly what I wanted because I had belonged to so many other stars sites in the past. I wanted my site to be clean and free of clutter and pop ups. I wanted material to be constantly updated and I wanted to be able to communicate with my fans on a regular basis via my blog and my appearance schedules. I have just started doing amateur clips on the site with other stars. I find amateur porn to be very hot cause it is so real. I just this past weekend shot a scene with Jackson Wild who is an ex Randy Blue exclusive. We actually shot 2 clips, one with him sucking me off and another with me fucking his hot ass!
